Frequently asked questions

Navi is an AI navigation assistant that lives in your Messages app. It watches the things that make you late, like traffic, weather, and how long you actually take to get ready, then texts you when to start getting ready and when to walk out the door, with a directions link. Over time it learns your habits, and if you're chronically late, it starts nudging you earlier. There's more in there too. Navi sends weather alerts, a morning briefing built around what you care about, and recommendations when you're exploring a new neighborhood. You can track a flight or set up an airport pickup, and Navi will watch the delays and the traffic and tell you the best time to leave. No app to download, no password to create. You text it like you'd text a person, and it texts you first when it matters.

ChatGPT and Claude are reactive. You have to remember you have a problem, open the app, and ask. Navi works the other way around. It already knows your route, your schedule, and what you've told it you care about, and it reaches out when something changes, before you knew there was anything to ask about. Navi is also connected to live data on millions of roads, transit lines, and places, so it can answer real questions about the world around you, like when the next train is, what's good three minutes off your route, or whether your bus is running late. And it lives where you already are. No app to open, no tab to find. It's a thread in Messages, next to your mom and your group chat. Navi is narrow on purpose. It won't write your essay. It gets you where you're going on time.

No. Navi works in the Messages app that's already on your phone. Text the number and you're set up.

Yes. All of Navi's scheduling and alerts work on Android. Messages arrive as regular texts instead of iMessages, and everything else works the same. The two exceptions are GamePigeon, which is an iMessage only app, and Find My location sharing, which is optional anyway.

You tell it where you're going, how you're getting there, and when you need to arrive, in plain words. Navi then watches live conditions on your actual route, including traffic, transit delays, and the weather for the minutes you'll be outside. When something changes, your leave time changes, and Navi texts you with a directions link.

Navi sends Google Maps links by default. If you'd rather have Apple Maps, tell it once and it'll use Apple Maps from then on.

No. Navi texts you about things you've set up, like your commute, a flight, or a reminder, and only when there's something worth telling you. The rest of the time it stays out of your way, and when you text it, it answers instantly.

Navi knows what you tell it: where you're going, when you need to be there, how you get around, and any preferences you've mentioned. Your conversation history stays available so Navi can keep track of your events and preferences across messages. It's never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to train AI models. Sharing your device location is optional, and when you do share it, it's used only to time your alerts and generate your directions. You can read the full privacy policy. You can ask Navi to forget something at any time. To delete everything, text Navi your request or email privacy@textnavi.com.

Navi is free while we're in beta, and you don't need to enter any payment information to start. It'll be $10 a month later on, but not until it's reliably keeping you on time. You'll hear about it well before anything changes.

Yes. Navi travels with you. Tell it when you're going and it'll adjust your time zone and weather alerts for wherever you've landed. Traffic and transit data is less reliable outside the US, but Navi will still do its best to get you where you're going on time. You can also ask it about any city or town in the world, like what to see, where to eat, or what's worth doing.

Not currently. Navi is designed for 1:1 chat to optimize your day in a single thread. Group chat integration is coming soon and will be able to make sure everyone in the group can make plans together and is on time.

First, check that your message actually sent. If it did and Navi is still quiet, our messaging provider occasionally has downtime that keeps messages from going through. Text HELP to the Navi number and it'll flag the issue to the team, or email help@textnavi.com.

Text STOP and Navi won't message you again. If you also want your data deleted, text Navi your request or email privacy@textnavi.com. For anything else, help@textnavi.com.
